COVID-19 Update March 31, 2020
Reminder: Snohomish County park gates, playgrounds and bathrooms are closed until at least April 30, 2020. All scheduled events/gatherings are cancelled or postponed through at least May 20, 2020. All State Parks and State DNR and DFW recreational lands and all recreational fisheries have all temporarily closed through at least April 8, 2020. Many National Parks, National Forest facilities, and other federal recreation sites are closed as well to discourage travel and slow the spread of the virus under the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order.
While there are still many benefits to going outside during this time, here are some recommendations:
· Engage in outdoor activities only with people in your immediate household (not extended families).
· Engage in outdoor activities close by your home, instead of traveling to do them (if you have to take a car, the park is too far!).
· If you encounter others, maintain a minimum of 6-feet social distance.
· Gatherings of any size are not allowed outdoors, just as they are not allowed indoors. This includes getting a group together to go on a hike.
· Do not park in front of park gates or roads. Emergency services need access to these at all times.
We are lucky to have such amazing parks and open spaces in Snohomish County. In these difficult times, it is critical that we all play our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Many of our parks have had cars parked in front of gates, crowded street parking, and too many users, making social distancing difficult. In particular, there has been unsafe and/or illegal parking near Meadowdale Beach, Picnic Point, Lord Hill, Paradise Valley, Wenberg County Park, Heybrook Ridge Park, as well as many of the Centennial Trail trailhead parking areas. We know you love and value these parks and trails, but please only leave home if necessary and follow the Governor’s "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" guidelines. The parks will be waiting and ready for your adventures once we get through this together.
March 22, 2020- Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers announced the closure of Snohomish County park gates and bathrooms in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. All park play structures were closed last week. These steps are being taken to better enforce social distancing and ensure all appropriate steps are being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This decision will be reviewed periodically and lifted when appropriate.

Parks and its division’s administrative office will be closed to the public and several events have been canceled or rescheduled.Parks and its division’s administrative office will be closed to the public. This is in accord to reduce community spread of COVID-19 by implementing community mitigation strategies relating to the public access to the main County administration buildings. Many jurisdictions throughout the state of Washington have undertaken measures to limit general public access to their administrative buildings in an effort to protect the provision of essential governmental services. We are still able to do business through the telephone and the Internet. Below is a list of resources to access our services.
